    Guess on a price?

First off: This is not a sale ad. I'm only "considering" selling one of my carbines to finance another gun purchase. I have one that's a bit out of the ordinary and have no idea what to ask for it, so I'm soliciting advice. It's a 6.6 mil Inland, hand stamped M1icon, from factory with type 3 KI band and PI adjustable sight. Unmarked push safety. 12/44 barrel. All parts are correct per War Baby. Condition is what sets it apart, it's factory fresh, unissued condition, never sanded or fooled with. Only blemish is a fingernail-size brown stain at the top of the buttplate, no pitting. My guess is from sitting in a closet on carpet. I would bet its never been fired, or very little, but obviously can't prove that. Got it at an estate sale. Auctioneer said it belonged to a retired Army officer and was presented to him at retirement. It is not a "presentation" carbine, just a late model. Any ideas on price?

Please do not reply with offers to buy. If I decide to do that I will put it in the sale ads.

1500 seems a little high to me. I've seen plenty of nice handstamped Inland carbines not reach 1000, even in this inflated market. In the proper auction setting, it could reach that amount in my opinion. But a couple of guys would have to have their hearts set on a nice handstamped Inland. Remember also, there are M1icon carbine collectors who turn their noses up at Inland carbines because so many were made versus the other manufacturers. Good luck with your sale when you decide to go forward with it. Anything is possible in today's crazy market

While there isn't a stampede to own these later carbines, there are a lot of these out and about in as issued condition. They are ignored because the adjustable sight and later bands makes people think that they are rebuilt. The CC articles cover some of the later blocks and give excellent information to determine what is supposed to be on these guns. I see them as an excellent value at $1500. You won't see any of these carbines on a Sam-T-Bob auction and that is a serious plus.

I got $1450 for my original late Winchester with Type II band (from the same time frame and almost as good condition). I would say $1400 to $1500.

Ditto here. I had an Inland in the same, almost new shape with all correct parts and sold it on the fly for $1300 a few years back....

In almost unused condition with all original parts commands a good price with any gun, but finding carbines in this shape is rarer than most WWII rifles.... Face it - most ALL M1icon Carbines were rebuilt and/or abused after WWII, but the very late carbines with factory improvements and upgrades. sometime missed being rebuilt by arsenals, have saved a very few carbines in original condition... I think these few may become the only few who have remained it original condition!

On the other hand there are Mi Carbine collectors who specialize only with Inlands. We M1 guys are a funny breed.

I would ask more than $1500. You can always come down. 2.6 million seems like a big number but how many are left? From that number, however many that is, how many are in original unissued condition? You may find a buyer who needs that SN block to finish his Inland collection.

Agree with Bob, start at 1500+. Condition, condition, condition.
