NZ No. 2 Patt 14 AJ Parker .22 Trainer

While I was searching for a Long Lee nose cap, which I found I also found this no 2 Patt 14 AJ Parker conversion. I'm just wondering how to restore it, When it was built by AJ Parker in Birmingham in 1927 on a 1915 Sht LE III, would the completed trainer have been sent out in its 1915 woodwork, volley sights etc. Or would it have been sent out with mixed parts and possibly SHt LE III* woodwork, a much easier restoration. Also, what sight would have been on the barrel since its not sleeved, if it was a Sht LE sight was it modified for .22 ammunition?
I have seen a windage rear sight marked .22RF and and the ramps appeared to be slightly shaved down.
It also has the NZ Mk IV stamps, is this different to no 2 Patt14? Or is MkiV the NZ copy of the no 2 Patt 14 conversion and this rifle is one of the batch which NZ evaluated then copied.

A factory .22 Patt 14 No. 2 conversion can go either way, original to the rifle parts or a mix-master, they did not care as they just wanted the rifle serviceable. Yours has been rebarrelled in 1927 so if you have a solid barrel now it is a Short .22 Mk IV* or Rifle No. 2 Mk IV* rather than a .22 Patt 14 No. 2. Since it was rebarrelled by NZ any combination of parts will work as they would of replaced any non-serviceable parts at that time.

My example is a 1915 LSA with a matching non-volley sight forend and a few Aussie parts that got added during her life.

Has your rear sight been modified in any way?

The rear sight on this .22 has the 25 yrd line added, some of my other .22's do not though.

On one of my No2 MkIVs someone has scratched into the wood 350. The sight does not have the 25yd line added.

Just checked out the rest of the .22's. Only 5 out of 10 rifles spanning .22 Short Mk I through Rifle No. 2 Mk IV* that currently standard rear sights have the 25 yard line added to the rear sight. The rifles earlier than .22 Patt 14 No. 1's lacking the markings and only my .22 Patt 1918 is lacking the mark (due to the fact the rear sight is m/m) for the rifles that include .22 Patt 14 No. 1 and later.

Just looked, my .22 Patt.14 No1 rifle has 25 marked on the rear sight.
