Example image of the patch worn in WWI for the 148th Infantry Needed

Does anyone have an example of what the correct patch would have been for the 148th Infantry in WWI, if so can you please post an image? Much appreciated, David

148th Infantry Regiment was organic to the 37th (infantry) Division. If by "patch" you mean the shoulder sleeve insignia the Regiment would have worn the SSI of the Division. Some of the units of the AEF wore the basic headquarters SSI, but the subordinate units wore variations of the design that had colored sections that indicated the specific unit. These SSI are quite colorful and interesting to research. So start with the 37th Division and research if there were unit specific variations of the SSI.

The SSIs were mostly authorized after the Armistice, so if you're putting together a uniform or display that represents war time service then SSI is inappropriate.

RT this confirms what I suspected; I wanted to hear it from an expert. I'm researching a Major Leon E. Smith of the Ohio National Guard, he joined in 1901 under Company K 3rd Infantry and remained in that unit until 1917 and his unit was re-designated the 148th 2nd Battalion.

I accessed some information from a book yesterday that led me to believe the 148th operated under the 37th while on the western front, I found Major Smiths name mentioned in the book.
The book title was "The Thirty-Seventh Division in the World War 1917-1918", the book was printed in 1929, there were 2 volumes. I was able to find both original copies so I ordered them at 20.00 a piece which I thought was a great deal since they are such a great resource on a fading period of time in history, one for which details are not always clear.

I'm trying to acquire as much info as I can on the Major to build a display to go with his 1912 1911 US Army Colt I recently picked up. I have picked up a patch or insignia that you reference for my display, now I feel better about using it.
