Question Enfield No. 2 MkI* Information and value?

    Hello everyone!

Here is an Imgur Album: Enfield No.2 MkI* - Imgur

I recently picked up an Enfield No.2 MkI* made in 1942. I am curious to know a bit about the history, what the markings all represent or mean, whether it is in correct condition, and generally the history of this gun and the guns as a whole. I have not yet found a good resource online for these revolvers similar to 7.62x54r.net for the Mosin Nagant rifles.

Also any idea on value? I picked it up for 350 dollars, seemed like a fair price based on what I was told and shown via cell phone picture

    Thank you!

There is a lot of info on these little pistols on this very forum and I suggest that you read and read again. But very quickly, you have a No2 Mk1* Britishicon made Enfield revolver which is a simplified version of the Mk1 type., Don't believe the garbage you hear about the hammer spur catching on tank turrets........... Military proofed in 1941 and commercially proofed - ain't got a clue!

Ain't had the left grip modified so left UK service before 1955 or so.

All the other marks are examiners marks (those with the crown) stage inspectors marks, usually sets of initials and mating numbers where two parts are matched and numbered together. The serial number is Qxxxx but that's about it!
