Hi from Dayton, Ohio. I have been a lurker and decided to bit the bullet and join in. I own a Remington 1903A3 that I have owned since 1964. The barrel is stamped with a "6-43". My father planned to sporterize the rifle (the original straight stock was cut down and all the fittings and upper handguards were long gone). The rifle was never sporterized. Fast forward to today. I found a walnut scant stock along with the upper handguards along with all the required fittings at a local gun show some years ago and have brought the rifle up to military issue. Evidently, the stock was never used as it lacks the stampings and cartouches that one would find on an issued or rebuilt rifle.
I have routinely fired the rifle and it is a shooter. I reload 30-06 rounds and have started reloading cast bullets for my 03.

My Dad and I ordered a DCM 03-A3 in 63(?). I mail ordered a "C" stock and got the money by mowing lawns(!). My Dad saw that nice "C" stock and insisted we sporterize the rifle. I said no and was very happy with the the rifle. My Dad would not let it go and badgered me into cutting up the stock. He did the work and it looked like the dogs rear end. We would take it to the range and people would snicker at it. I finally took off the "C" stock and put the issue strtaight stock back on it. Taught me a real lesson about respecting my kid's and their property.

Too bad, I've always liked the "C" stock much better.

Welcome to the forum dleeharrison, I live in Columbus, but lived in Dayton for 10 years, still have a daughter living there!
Lots of ranges in the region, and many supporting NRA highpower matches, my range in Zaansville has vintage 03 sniper matches in prep for Camp Perry.
Not that I will ever find the time to get good enough to compete, still fun.
A witty saying proves nothing.
