That rifle here in Wisconsin would go for substantially more than $425 at a gun show in my opinion. I think you did just fine. Have fun with it!

Nice looking Russian. I don't think the price is too bad considering the supply is drying up and demand is still high. People seem to have a fascination with Nazi marked mausers and prices are only going up. Here in Canada RC'S are going like hotcakes at $600-$700 with no end in sight. A bolt mismatch in good shape will fetch $1500 and all matching rifles even in common codes fetch $2000-$2500.

Well this rifle turned out to be a gem. The pics make the stock look beat somewhat but it is nearly perfect as is the bore. There is some minor handling on the ugly Russian metal finish but looks almost new as well. The best part is I got my brass in yesterday from a guy who also included some pulled bullets which appear to be the Romanian 155ish grain FMJBT steel core. Quite the interesting bullet as at first glance it appears to be a much heavier bullet due to composition that seems to lack lead. These had fairly deep crimp dents in them just below the red line of sealant but since I have so many irons in the fire lately they were all I had to throw downrange until next payday. Pleasantly surprised that 48 grains of H4895 was quite accurate although crono'd a tad slower than I was expecting. I averaged about 2650 FPS MV and a tight well centered cluster slightly low at 100 yards at the 100m sight setting. I got roughly 2.5 MOA which is as good as my eyes can shoot irons even out of an M1A NM! I do believe that this thing is a slightly better shooter than my 1903A3 even with a perceived inferior sighting system. I only hope I can find a commercial bullet that will at least duplicate this first try at a handload for it.

I concur Sarge. Plus it has WWII History and it's interesting. The markings aren't obliterated as many were during the Russian Capture rebuilds.

Yes Bearstopper, five or more years ago the market was saturated here and you could find many RC's at gun shows in the D/FW area for a little less than you paid. I've been attending shows here over the past six months (we have a large show in my area every couple of weeks or so) and have not even seen one RC for sale. Figuring inflation and not as many available I think you did very good.

I bought a nice clean RC a few years ago and it shoots awesome. No, it's not a rare original but it cost so much less and I loved shooting it.
