Charge of the light brigade bugle
Not often you see something so rare, used to communicate between Cavalry Regiments, long before the radio. This bugle from 1854.
What a brave action that was, and its price today is a true reflection of that bravery!

It would be a nice piece to have but then what? I'd be forced to place it in a museum so others could see it so I still wouldn't have it...

What a wonderful object to see and hear. The battle and Tennyson's poem were part of history for many. Not so today.

I don't think it was ever for sale as it is in a Regimental Museum, it was brought along for a rough expert value, presumably for insurance purposes, and also to share its existance with the world.
A lot of the British Balaclava stuff is in Russia, so this did well to get home safely. We have enough Bronze cannon left to make 88 Victoria Crosses which is humbling!!!
I think we need to go back and get some more if they don't get out of the Ukraine lol
