thoughts on 6.5 X 57R
I have a No4 LB, in 6.5 X 57R.
Barrel in a new BSA and the rest of the gun has been refurbished.
It is with my local armorie at the moment having
origional pads fitted one of Rogers mounts and a 32 MK3 scope mounted. wood work is being modified to ensure good barrel clearence (the stock is and origional 4T H,H marked) and triger improved.
The question is
what are the thoughts on the round being used to
shoot at 200 meters.

More round than needed. Otherwise, why not?
6 BR or 7 BR case size seems enough for 200m. Why burn all the extra powder?

The LB came with the barrel fitted and chambered and it shots well.
It is a standard convertion here before it became legal to own without permission
here 303 308 7.62 8X57 etc. it all changed 2 yrs ago.
Cases are no problem make from 303, 7 X 57R, or 8 x 57JRS. I have lots of all of these.

Since it's already done, shoot until barrel wears out. I did similar with a HB Model 70 in .280 Remington. That's how it came. When it wouldn't do well anymore we went to 7mm-08.

No such thing as "overkill".
That said, moderate loads and a "medium-weight" bullet should work fine at those ranges. And you never know when you may travel to a "bigger" range. Would also be a fine hunting round with appropriate bullets.
If it is an "original" build that has been re-barreled to get around the restriction on "military" calibres in many parts of Europe, it is probably as good as it gets. I would shoot it as it is until the barrel gets "tired" and in the meantime, find a suitable .303 replacement barrel.

It is an origional build that was probably part of a resistance drop during the war.
There are no other markings other than LB, mark and sn number.
The re barrel is in a B.S.A. the whole rifle is in an A1 condition and
thus dont think that it will not need a new barrel for a long time.
With it being in 6.5 x 57R close to a .260 it should shoot fast and flat.
as the case has the same volune as the rimmed less vertion I can use the same loads,
a Rimmed case is normaly down loaded 10% to help with extraction.
The rifle has always shot very well only the mad feed was a problem till I modified it.
Cannot wait till I get it back.
