I am not offended, and I did not mean to question your integrity.
When I re-read my comments I agree I could have used a little more tact.
Mincing words is not my strong suite, in fact, I am known for being a little blunt.
It is both my blessing and my curse.

That said, I am actually astounded that another gas trap has surfaced, at least most of one.
Are you familiar with the Garandicon Collectors Association?
If you were to write down all you know about the history of your rifle and anything as to how your grandfather acquired it, that and the excellent pictures you have taken would make an excellent article in the quarterly journal.

It might also lead you to sources for some of the missing parts.

In any case, I do not think I would take that particular rifle hunting any more.
It is an historical artifact that should be preserved.
We can help you find a reasonably priced Garand for hunting if that's your goal.
