    Some more for the servey:

    No.1 MK.III 1916 s/n 44518 barrel 1917

    No.1 MK.III* (* cancelled) 1918 s/n A1841 barrel 1918

    No.1 MK. III* (* not cancelled but cutoff fitted) 1922 s/n B4528 barrel 2/24

    No.1 MK.III 1927 s/n B16622 barrel un-numbered 4/45 Lithgowicon

    No.1 MK.III* 1941 s/n C1164 barrel un- numbered 7/44 Lithgow

    No.1 MK.III* 1953 s/n F40140 barrel 2/54

And, don't know if it will help but I have:

No.1 Mk.III* 1942 s/n D87608 FTRed in 52 (MA/52) is a stripped body that ran afoul of a chop saw (only thing keeping it together is about a 4mm section on the right and a 10mm section on the left behind the barrel threads). Not my doing it was given to me that way, and makes me sad every time I look at it.

No.1 MK.III* 1944 s/n 2730 This is a stripped action body only and is DP marked.

Muffett, on one of your lists you have rifle no. D967700 which I believe is mine. The serial number is incorrect in that it has one xtra 0. The actual number is D96770.

    1922 lithgow checking in

1922 no 1 mk3*. B3907. barrel dated 09/25. bolt is not marked in the usual place, however on the underside i find E1900, clearly not original. underneath the bolt on the action i notice D5689, but i have read elsewhere that this wasn't intended to be a SN. lower forearm wood does not match B3907. nosecap, buttstock, action, barrel, rear sight all match. the slot for the mag-cutoff is present, however the cutoff plate itself is not present. brass stock disc is present, but blank. i have scoured this thing for FTR markings, and i do not see any, though clearly she has been repaired by someone at some point.

love your survey and reading through this. what a neat idea!!

i double-checked the buttstock for the "FTR" markings, or the more ethereal "FR" markings. no such luck. just not there. thanks for reminding me!!!!!

Thanks Fred, if you check the front face of the bolt handle, you will find BA stamped next to the handle ball, a bolt replacement program was being run from about 1945 until the completion of the FTR program.
