    1931 Webbing Sling

Hi, I have recential purchased a 1931 trials rifle, comment on the trail regarding trials rifles, and keen to know if I could get a 1931 dated sling to match this, I am guessing it would be webbing or possibly leather? Comments appreciated, cheers, Steve

    Hi
There are certainly inter war dated webbing slings around. I recently sold a 1935 dated example on "that auction site" and I have a 1929 dated sling on one of my own rifles.

They're not common, but they are out there.

    Regards
    Mike

Did you get the one on Holt's auction? If so, well done. I would be interested to see detailed pics.

That's the one, bonus on the no.1mk.vi mag and the original barrel, price may have been full but never seen one quite so original. Took it down the range today but didn't shoot it, was very tempted but will hold off

While I realise that people like to collect accessories that are the same date/make as the rifle, this was almost never the case in practice. I can image the chaos that would have been caused in my day, if someone, for example, had demanded a "proper" SLR sling.

We were initially issued .303 slings for our FNs...because there were zillions. Didn't get the "Correct" slings until later in the battalion.
