I've been doing a 25% deposit to secure your position in line. The MkII 3* stocks run $450 complete with both handguards and fitted to my test action. We should go to PM from here.

Flying Pig;
I bought a stock this weekend, for the furniture on it. The stock has been gone over with what looks like a circular grinder/sanding disc, in the hopes, I guess, of thinning the wood. I haven't any use for the wood, but thought that maybe you could use this for a pattern, with a little bondo work. Handguard has the clips intact, so I might remove them for future use. So, if you can utilize the wood, let me know, and I will ship it to you.

Bubba, that would be really kind of you. I would love to have a real MkIII stock to use as a master, like you say with a little work it would likely be closer than my current master stock. And stiffer too being made of hardwood.

FP:
Stock is completely intact, so aside from the grinding/sanding on it (it has been thinned in the grip area, mostly) it is certainly a great candidate for patterning off. Is it alright to send it to you, postage collect? (Heck, you will get your box back, too!)
If that won't work (don't know if Canada Post does postage collet anymore) we can work something out, I am sure.
I have found my camera, so I will be taking some pictures of my refurbished MkIII, (with an excellent replica stock,) the 280 sporter I just acquired, and the snotterized MkIII I also scored on the weekend, then it will just be figuring out how to post those pictures on here. The FAQ article should get me through, anyway. Did you find a forged nose cap for your rifle, and are you still in need of measurements on a nose cap? I have one now, and if you need measurements, I can take a bunch of measurements off it before I fit it to my MkIII.

I did manage to find a partly butchered MkIII nosecap on CGN a bit ago. It has no screws, and has had the bayonet lug cut off. I'm still waiting to hear back from the other fellow who offered to trade me a complete replica MkII 3* stock for a complete cap and screws, hopefully he comes through. I could tackle the reproduction nosecap deal, but my plate is already too full as I'm having a tough time getting to my stock orders.
If they will do collect then by all means, if not I could send cash to cover the shipping if you'd like?
A member on another forum brought me a very nice custom MkIII Monte Carlo sporter stock here a few weeks ago. A copy of it would turn any bubba MkIII into a work of art!

I will check with CP to see if they still do postage collect. If not, we will work something out. If you can, send a picture of that Monte Carlo stock, might be something to consider for the chop job MkIII I just bought.

Sure, can do. It needs lots of fitting yet but it will make a crazy nice sporter. I'm going to run a master off of it and then fit it to a nice action (when I find one).
