    Question MAS 1936 with a serial number 2 _ 75549?

Hi everyone, I am actually Frenchicon and do not know much about French rifles. I have a MAS 1936 with a serial number 2 _ 75549. I was told that the serial is supposed to start with a letter but this rifle does not ? Any idea ?

    Thanks a lot.
    Henri.

Are you sure it is a number? Maybe just a letter that looks like a number? Can you post a picture?

Agree--a picture would be most helpful. Also where the serial number is located on the receiver--vertically, horizontally, etc. Does the number on the bolt, floorplate or stock match?

The letter is usually a larger font and also in a script that is near impossible to decipher without looking at a chart. You may not realize what you are seeing is a letter.
