    Mk II 3* handguard attachment

Hey Guys, FNG question here. Is the Ross Mk II 3* front upper handguard secured by anything other than the lower band? Mine flaps like a politician's jaw. Thanks.

It should have small nails protruding from the rear of the front guard which stick into the front of the rear guard. The rear guard should have a spring which secured it to the barrel.

Ah! This makes sense. I figured something had to be missing. My handguard assembly must have been cobbled at some point, I suppose. There is no trace whatsoever of this type of rig on either piece, although the wood appears to match quite well. The rear bit has a chunk broken off, but this is on the left side only with both rivets still intact. I will attempt to fashion a repair for it, and glue it in if I can match the contours and color properly. Then, a couple of pins, an I'm in business. Next, the hunt for the elusive front sight hood. Thank you very much FP!

A fellow in Australiaicon I believe who is a member on this forum is making excellent reproduction front sight hoods. Unfortunately no one is doing nose caps yet.
