Was the L39A1 ever used in the Palma Matches?

When the UKicon hosted the Palma Matches, was the L39A1 ever the issue rifle, or used by the UK team?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Out of interest I tried googling and could find nothing to indicate this. I know target shooters in NZicon at one stage were using home made (or purchased) conversions but the feedback I got when I asked was that he actions tended to stretch, Gawd knows how hot hey were loading them in this case. By the time such conversions were possible then the Omark etc was available and from what I can read and the Omark would do 3/4MOA out of the box and even 1/2MOA, easily outshooting the Enfield and no setup or maintenance hassles that comes with a target prepped No4 which can throw a wobbly and shoot 4moa if it feels like.

Would be interested if it was used.

    NO.

The Envoy was use in the UKicon 1970 Palma match, and it is pretty close in form, but never the straight L39A1

here is my list, with the country the match was fired in that year

    1966 M14icon (US)
1967 7.62 Canadian No 4 DCRA rifle (Canadaicon)
    1968 Winchester model 70 (US)
1969 Parker Hale 1200 TX (first lot if I understand correctly) (Canada)
    1970 Envoy (UK)
    1971 Winchester model 70 (US)
1972 Sportco, Canadian centennial model (Canada)
    1973 M14 (US)
1974 Musgrave Palma rifle (South Africa)
    1976 Winchester model 70 (US)
1979 Omark D model (New Zealandicon)
    1982 Omark D model (Canada)

1982 was the last year the rifles were supplied, matches after were fired with competitors own rifles.

I recall the Palma Envoys, and know somebody who has one.
