You're right about wood color, generally speaking you're better off buying a set that matches, buying in pieces always seems to make for odd wood types and colors, although if you're a wiz at staining and intend to refinish the wood that can be coped with somewhat.
Springfield sporters are a good team to buy from.They will answer questions ie about wood, but take a week or two to get to emails. Some of their cheaper wood sets are pretty beat up, you might consider a step up from $40.
A good thing about using ebay for parts is that you can see what you're getting, plus, there is a 100 enfield links website around called enfieldresource.com, it'll be there for a few more days, but you'll find everybody there you'll ever need.
Good onya for the restoration, these rifles are all appreciating, and parts for restoration will never be cheaper.

thanks a lot for all your help guys! i have a bakelite oiler and a pull through currently in transit from the UK (ebay) and I'm working on sourcing out the rest of my parts! The most difficulty I am having now is convincing my wife that it's worth restoring lol
