    Expecting a Russian, got a Romy M44

I purchased this via online auction and was surprised by the 1954 on the receiver. On closer inspection, I noticed the Romanian marks and found the import stamp. The receiver and mag floor match but the stock and bolt do not. In any case, the stock is cracked by the recoil lug and I don't expect to shoot it anytime soon. I can't confirm the origin of the stock as except for a serial, the only marks I can find are a 38 stamped on the handguard and on the stock itself. Any ideas on this and thoughts regarding a replacement stock?
