    M44 Us

Does anyone know how many Mossberg M44 US's were made from 1943 to 1949? I know it was at least 154,000 but was just wondering.
    Thanks for any information.

The years 45 to 49 would be civilian models, no militray contracts, and no records exsist for those years. Mossberg records were all thrown out (by mistake) during an office move/remodel sometime after the war.

No pre-war M44US, and only the military contract rifles received a serial number (starting at 100,001, IIRC).

FWIW; AFAIK; IMHO; YMMV; yadda, yadda, yadda.

Here is something else of interest regarding US44 production numbers and collecting,

The 1st delivery of Mossberg 44US .22s (SN# 100,001-114,500) are something of a special collectable batch.
This is because they were delivered with very desirable (and more expensive) LYMAN #57 target peep sights!
Standard Mossberg S-100 peep sights were used on all the following deliveries.
The reason for this variation was the (then new) S-100 rear sight, specially designed for the M44US, was not yet in production,
and unable to make the 1st delivery date to Uncle Sam.

If you are lucky, you might get one of these 1st 114,500, M44US's from the CMPicon.
.....And if you are REAL lucky (as I was! ) get one in NIB condition! Original Mossberg blued finish, and its original LYMAN #57 rear sight still mounted on it!
I was VERY happy to say the least!
