Sub contractors and parts makers

I can't find a single one of my M1 Carbine reference books, and I have several.

Question, is there an online source to tell me the original parts makers for a newly aquired IBM. mfgd late 1944.

This may help, you can plug in the serial # and it will give you a list of parts. Keep in mind that there are many different thoughts as what is correct and not.

If your looking for what manufacture supplied what manufacture with what parts, I think WB1 is your best source.

...and if so it may be an infringement on intellectual property rights. The people who research and document this information in a usable text format do so at some cost and expect to be paid for their efforts - and rightfully so. Just crediting an author while plagerizing him/her online won't feed the bulldog.

Go to Amazon and order a copy of M1 Carbines - Wartime Production, 7th Edition, by Craig Riesch, at less than $20 and you will have it in a couple of days and all of your questions will be answered (mostly correctly). JMHO

Chip is right about the 7th edition. It's probably the best bang for your buck and delivers quick. If you have a question or 2 about specific parts for a specific gun, start another thread and ask it here.

The Craig Riesch book is great for the cost.
Better books, the "War Baby" series, offer a whole lot more but will cost considerably more dollars. All the back issues of the Carbine Club newsletters (39 years) cost even more at $280.
On line could be the future. Time will tell.
