Hi Al,
if you only use it for firing blanks, a good glue is the solution I'd recommend. You don't mess around with a receiver by making something irreversible, also it is good enough for what you're planning to do.
The rifle currently on GB indeed went more expensive the last days. I do not believe this to be a result of the USMC origin, rather than people now recongizing that W&S snipers are something highly collectible. The recent sold rifle which also had plugged holes was even SRS listed as USMC issued, but not as a sniper (the USMC did NOT use the W&S scope. They received the rifle after being de-snipered and rebarreled it for useage as a normal service rifle)! So I wonder what someone would do with it - it's basically an USMC rifle, but will never be a W&S sniper again, with the Hatchers hole and even being proofed to be one by a SRS listing. And they paid $1800 for that one! And the currently listed rifle will be the same (though not SRS listed).
