Give it another 15 years and they might just re-issue the L96 again! 😬

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Look, here's what must be proof positive of the extended life of the L42. The headstamp shows L42A1 it's dated 2003 and in a box that says "Sniper" on it!

I mean really what more proof do you need?

Don't want to pee on your Corn Flakes Si, but the L42 use with the trials bracket and whatever scope etc, I thought was supposed to be in use in the first Gulf War ? Op Desert Storm started, (17 January 1991 – 28 February 1991) remember the start well, I was testing the steering gear on the SS Esso Demetia and heading for Gulf.

So I,m not convinced of course if you find some brass dated 90-91 then its all the evidence needed, there say you could sell that box of rounds with anyone with an L42 and the trials bracket.... its got Sniper on the box and after a few exchange of hands will have more provenience probably than the Brackets...

    Geoff,

I remember the start of Gulf 1 very well myself, I was working in Ulsan, South Korea at the Hyundai Car Plant.

    Peter,

Sorry, I promise to behave myself from now on

    Cheers,

    Si.

    Paul,

I was commissioning a conveyor and transfer system in the paintshop for the then due to be launched Hyundai Scoupe. I was out there for a few months and enjoyed thoroughly it's a remarkable country.
