    Bren magazine tin/chest

Does anyone know a source, in the U.K. for empty Bren magazine tins/chests, please? This is the metal tin that holds 12 magazines. There seems to be several dealers selling the tins with the mags but no-one selling the tins with-out the mags. Are the tins/chests for the 7.62 mags and the .303 mags are the same? Thanks for any info.

There were many variations of the .303 box of course. As for the 7.62mm boxes, there were conversions and new made. Take your pick! But dimensionally they were pretty well identical. Every Armourers shop had a couple set aside, ready for use as a range box and another packed with a selection of spare/needy parts plus tea making stuff! We had a motto, known to all Armourers 'ANYONE CAN LIVE LIKE A PRAT' but we lived comfortably - most of the time!

And I lost count of the amount of times I heard. From Crunchie's bringing in a Weapon for repair. 'It just came off in 'Me hands Sarge'!.............

To answer the original question - I bought my Bren mag chest at Beltring several years ago.
There were quite a few there, both with & w/o mags.

When I picked up my Bren, I asked about spare magazines. I was taken to a warehouse nearby and shown 4 or 5 pallets loaded to about 3-1/2 feet high with these boxes. Each had 12 - 303 mags covered in cosmolineicon inside. I was told "take your pick". I bought 4 at $60 each. I spent an afternoon with gasoline in the driveway cleaning one box full, my heirs can do the rest. I do have a couple of spare chests but one of the reenactors here has asked for them.
