    Thompson Transit Chest

Does any-one have an original Thompson Transit Chest that they are able to photograph, please? I am interested to see photos of the outside of the box and also the inside showing internal fittings/divisions etc, both with the gun in and without, if possible please. Thanks for any help.

Do you mean the chests we received them in from the US or the chests that we sent them out from Ordnance in?

There was a thread about this a few months ago and Warren chimed in with something

You could just type Thompson Chests' in the search engine thinggy. Reminds me of when I typed in NIPPLE COVERS while looking for some brake bleed nipple covers for my old Mini Cooper. Got about 38 pages of pure erotica. You never know, you might get a few pages of Emma Thompsons chest!

I tried the search facility on this Forum but couldn't find any pictures. I was referring to the chests that the guns were sent out from ordinance in. I'm guessing that it will look like a scaled down Bren Chest but I have never actually seen one intended for the Thompson. I have seen a chest for the 2" mortar which is probably a similar length but deeper.

I've never seen that type of double transit case before, I have seen several single Thompson gun transit cases however.

    Attachment 65406

A friend of mine has a C^ marked '28 Thompson in the Canadianicon marked transit case.

sorry for the crappy cell pic

Thank-you very-much browningautorifleicon and Lee Enfield for your help with the pictures of the Thompson chest which are useful in showing me what they look like. They seem to be a scarce item here in the U.K.; perhaps some were shipped to Russiaicon with the guns. I may have a crack at making a repro when I have completed the restoration of a Bren chest.
