    hull mounted grenade launcher

I have an opportunity to help create some replica hull mounted grenade launchers (cut up SMLE) for a Humber Armoured Car. Does anyone have any pictures, drawings or detials to share so that I can assess how to help source and build the base parts.

This may keep me off the streets

    Cheers!

Do you not run into NFA rules on cutting down barrels in the USAicon???
Same thing happened with the SMLE cutaways that Navy Arms brought in years ago....they had to increase the barrel length to over 16 inches I believe.....and
I believe cutting barrels under 16 is again a problem.

That's a no-no without a $200 SBR tax stamp as I understand it. The barrel can be no shorter the 16" from the bolt face and the overall length no shorter then 26" on a live weapon. Remember, the receiver IS the rifle.
Don't know about deactivated stuff, don't mess with those.

I don't know a thing about the US regulations but the question I would ask you is this. Are the externally mounted dischargers going to be operative? If they're NOT going to operate, then just make solid barrels and then the 'thing' doesn't have a barrel.

We gave about 6 of those things away to the Tank Museum. I have some drawings from an old EMER. PM me with your address for some copies. The payback is that you keep us informed of your progress!!!!!!!

Thanks for the tips and link warpig - I will consult with the owners - they are up on their regulations though having a lot of hardware over the years and still in their possession - I personaly would prefer dummy replicas - I will leave it to them. They do a lot of re-enactments - I am sure launching tennis balls on a recon run is on their mind (appeals to the middle aged child in all of us)

PM incoming Peter - many thanks in advance! I have a large VW show coming up - I will send some choice photos in return

It won't matter if you're going to use SMLE receivers to do the builds. If the receiver is intact, it's considered a firearm. Even without a barrel installed. If the barrel is less than 16" and complete weapon under 26" overall, it falls under the NFA. The only unfortunate way you can deact a weapon in the USAicon is by cutting the receiver up with a torch. Three cuts removing 1/4" of metal per cut.
