    Unit Disc

Apart from the 'obvious' - Football Association - can anyone suggest where this rifle may have spent its time ?

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

I doubt whether FA would be an Army abbreviation of any sort due to its services connotation with the phrase that indicates '......very little'. In much the same way as PDQ indicates to anyone in the services that they really ought to get a move on - or PDFQ if a little more haste and speed is required!

Might as well try to ID to the "26"(?) "P.R." at the same time. An Indian regiment?

There was (is?) a "56th Punjab Rifles, as well as a Punjabi Regiment...a couple of possibilities. Ferozepore is a city and district in Punjab...so that would seem to fit.

    Perhaps just a bit younger?

There is something between the 2 and the 6, but can't make it out. A larger, sharper photo would help.

I see there was a 26th Punjab Regiment at some point: 26th Punjabis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
