Not here - not in the world of Enfields (and probably others as well).
I think the Rank is a courteous recognition of your knowledge, long may you be recognised as such.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Alan said it best.

You are a well respected authority on all things Britishicon ordnance, and one of the many reasons this site is so outstanding (along with the other fellows).

As a Yank who have talked to and hung out with MOS 45B20 (small arms repair) at Fort Benning, read Dunlops "Ordnance Went up Front", read Ernie Pyles description of a overhaul facility in Franceicon in 1944, have copies of all the US maintenance/rebuild/NM tuning manuals from the M1903 to the M16A4 and talked with any and all US personnel who had anything to do with such matters, I think I can say the amount of knowledge that is available on this site with regards to working on maintaining the Enfield is simply amazing. It is not only the straight forward procedures from the 1931 and Canadain manuals but he practical details that were published that make me just as comfortable working on a Lee Enfield as I would on an M1icon. We have the good Capt. Laidlericon to thank for much of it. It is very much appreciated on this side of the pond.

The title was used as a measure of respect, but I will use Mr. from now on as per your preference.

If we see the other side of the barrel reinforce it might tell us something...

It does appear to be "2/6". The disc doesn't look like it has been there "forever", but that could mean several different things.

And Frederick303 you must be an astute observer as I have long thought that your posts were some of the best written & informed 'about these here parts'.

Yes, after looking at the right hand side, I would say it is Irish, reworked around 1922 for the Irish Free State. It has the expected Enfield mark on the action body, just above the gas hole.

    Disc was added later.
