Genuine MkII Sten Gun Bayonets (?)

An interesting listing on the Apex Gun Parts website:

FALL KICKOFF SALE! Bayonet, STEN MK II, Marking, No Scabbard

Are these likely to be real?

    Yes,

The serious bayonet collectors know about them and purchased them when they were only $275 ea.

I'd still be very careful on this one. I've already experienced an individual faking a Sten bayonet...and selling it as real. It was easy, he has the stamps...the actual issue stamps.

Interesting piece. Apex never seems to bring out the really neat stuff to the local shows.

I'm with Nzl1a1collector on this and was an early purchaser. The Apex STEN bayonets have been examined by some of the most knowledgeable experts on Britishicon socket bayonets and found to be legit. I'm not an expert, but bought one right away when told by reliable sources that they were right.

There has been some mention in the past of the genuine Sten bayonet as having or sometimes having a number "1" stamped on the actual blade as did the No4 MK3 pig sticker sometimes not to be confused with "L" also sometimes found on the No4 MK3 blade sometimes. You can tell with the position that the number "1" is stamped on the blade if on the pig sticker bayonet if it was originally a blade intended for Sten bayonet. If my memory is correct I believe there is mention of this in Graham Priest's book which is probably where I learned this from.

If Graham Priest says they are real, which is what APEX claims, that's good enough for me. Just became the most expensive bayonet I've ever purchased (I think, don't quite remember what I paid for one of those Swissicon 1881 sawbacks). Glad I finally looked at this thread, I hope anyway. Don't tell my wife. It's a tool I need for work.

That's a new one I've not used that one, yet.

She usually doesn't ask how much the bayonets are and has even been easing back on the guns recently. She was with me at the auction last week and was fine with my two purchases. It's nice not having a mortgage anymore. It helps I haven't been buying many bayonets, the FN FAL is the only one in at least a month and I've only picked up a couple all year.
