Chiang Kai-shek Mauser. Made in China in the 1930's they are not too common, but are normally found in poor condition. Vet bring-back? Common in Korean War. Bores usually are bad to worse.

Curious as to the bore condition. Seeing rifling isn't enough unless it's sharp. If rounded, need to see if a bullet drops through it. These things are usually shot out. It's a 98 action I believe.

If it's made in China why does it have a Swastika on the receiver ring or did they import some Germanicon made parts? Or perhaps it's a later addition as a result of a rework???

The Swastika symbol is atleast 5000 years old... Just google "Swastika"...

And yes it's a 100% Chinese made copy of the Germanicon Mauser Standard Modell short rifle or carbine.

You can find some good basic information here: http://candrsenal.com/rifle-chinese-...iang-kai-shek/

I have a Hanyang rifle which is the Germanicon 88 commission rifle semi-clone. It has rifling but a bullet drops right through without any resistance at all. Never would have thought it by looking at it. Really makes you wonder how many times they were shot. WWII, Civil War, Korea, Vietnam, who knows where else. The rifle you have was supposed to replace the Hanyang but they never had enough and the Hanyang served side by side. I've been looking for a nice Chiang Kai-shek rifle but haven't had any luck finding one.

Try Omega Weapons in Tucson. He has a very few 98's. Real Chinese manufacture, as well.
