I'd just wipe it down with BLOicon then. It won't hurt the finish and with some rubbing will remove some of the improper finish that's left. It will also just plain clean it up a bit.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Ok I'll try it on a small spot first and see how it looks. Some T38s were finished with oil from what I've researched so I suppose for what its worth it won't look so bad

I know someone who is considering buying me out of the project for what I have in it ($140), but I'm not sure if I want to sell. I would have to replace it, I like it too much. Its so handy. Yet I can't seem to find I good example anywhere for less than $400 by the time I pay tax, shipping, and transfer. I mean look at that bore! Plus the bolt and all its parts match the receiver. I'm considering just sucking it up and buying the next original stock set I can find ($150-$250). Thoughts?

I'd just suggest patience. The parts you need will appear sometime. I've been scanning ebay twice a day for probably 6 years now. It may take some time but it eventually shows up. You need to set up your scans and just run them. Now I haven't been scanning for the same part for six years but a few have taken upwards of two years. The rifle functions as is so you can still enjoy shooting it.

Yeah thats true, I am very happy with how it functions and I seriously want to hunt deer with it. Superior to a small lever gun in almost every domain, don't know why these carbines (or arisakas in general) never caught on with the mainstream crowd.

I did find a hand guard on ebay earlier this winter but the color didnt match and it got bid up to $90 so I passed. However I've seen about 5 or 6 stock sets. So I figured the complete set may be the way to go even if expensive
