    Nam helmet

Thinking of buying a Nam helmet. Problem is, I know nothing of them. What should I be looking for? What price? Pics would be awesome!!

Suggest start by doing a bit of reading here
M1 helmet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    or
Interesting Articles - OCAD Militaria Collectors Resources
Then search for M1 Helmet on ebay or elsewhere like
    http://www.toppots.net/main.php?do=c...me&link_id=140
and you'll soon be up to speed.

I have found several Nam era described M1s on the bay. They range from $20 to several hundred.
So If you were going to buy one, what are things you would be wanting it to have? And what things should I avoid?

Avoid spending too much. A RVN era M1icon helmet should cost less than $200 really, even for the odd ones. It should also be about perfect shape for that money. The really expensive ones are likely Korea to WW2 era... Ask Harlan with a PM. He'll fill you in completely...

If you want an in country used example you want to look for helmets that have that been there, done that look to them. Sometimes sellers will mate beat up covers to plain Jane shells with random liners and try to pass them off as a complete set. Also be wary of graffiti on covers as well since sellers can also ruin an honest piece by adding full metal jacket style graffiti to it.

Well, it's not THAT hard. Not nearly as hard as WW2 helmets. But then it's from my era so it's like buying my own stuff back...
