My S/W Victory got a Big Brother

The last hurrah for 2015. M1917 Smith and Wesson; serial number dates it to May of 1918 - early enough to have been 'over there'. I assume finish is a re-arsenal Parkerized, about 95%, bore is very good, grips have no SN. Waiting for the half-moons to arrive. May get to shoot it Sunday if they get here.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I didn't see a Swedishicon forum, but I also picked up a M42B this month. You really need to know where your thumb is at all times.

I do enjoy shooting my S&W Model 1915, original caliber was .455 but was rechambered to 45 Colt many years ago. Rather than use a heavy 45 Colt load, I decided to cut down some 45 Colt cases to 45 ACP length and try them out. Nice load using the 45 Colt short case ! Also install the FDL rear sight and a new S&W "N" frame mainspring, all those WW1 S&W revolvers have very thick and heavy mainsprings

  7. Thank You to RCS For This Useful Post:

That would be your "Purchase of th month" forum...nice catch. They shoot fine, just don't over load the ammo. Don't misplace your mag either.

I always wanted a nice US issue 1917 pistol but never managed to find one. All I got was an old offshore contract that was worn out. It sold OK though and I bought a Mod 25 instead...which was perfect. Those 1917 pistols are all but extinct around here...
    Regards, Jim
