    M1 Carbine Front Sights

I found in all those parts I bought 2 different Front Sights with SN marked on them among with all different markings on each one of them. One is just like the one on my NPM which is the Stamped Type 2 "S N" side by Side. I did find in WB 1 very little info on the 2nd one I think it's says it's from Niedner and was used by Standard Products Carbines very early, but I think it had to be used on others. Have anyone seen this SN sideways marked sight on other Carbines ?

I think I would hold onto that sideways 'SN' Type 1 sight if it were mine. In 15+ years I have never seen one, nor have I seen a picture of one. Probably for Std Prod by same manufacturer as the sideways 'NN' for NPM - Niedner(?). Thanks for the pic. ChipS

Thanks Chip...I was also just told that it was rarely used by Standard Products (very early). That they received a small batch of them. Then S P were sent N marked Front Sights from the same company (Niedner Rifle Corp). Thanks Chip for taking time and Sharing.

Whoever told you that mislead you. SN marked milled front sights appear on the majority of Standard Products carbines from the beginning of production until roughly 40,000 serial numbers later. After that about one in four front sights are SN marked until mid way through production.

    My Apologies

Correction: I have seen at least one sideways SN milled front sight - I own it (a senior moment). I don't recall seeing any others, but perhaps I have seen so very few that I concluded they were fairly rare. I would still hang onto the sight. Semper Fi. ChipS

Chip, You don't have to call it "A Senior Moment" ...We ALL have those moments....LOL...But, you will most likely see the "N" one before this one. Ooh-Rah !
