Sheeeeeeesh, Ebay again!

I think that the sun is getting to me. Did anyone else see it or was I just imagining things. An L1A1 bayonet go on Ebay for £156. What did this deserve to command such a price...............? It was fitted with a set of No5 wood grips!

I appreciate that drilling through the hilt for the repositioned holes is a bit difficult if you are using wooden drills but with a half decent HSS drill, it's a 2 minute doddle......... but £156. I'm going to be busy this evening with some spare bayonets and wood grips! Let me see ....... 3/16" drill, centre punch, bayonets and a few grips................

Hi Peter! I have found that Ebay is progressively becoming a bidding war arena. I have stated before, some bidders have more money than brains but the question remains how did they get the necessary brains to get the BIG bucks they seem able to squander on Ebay?????? It used to be a decent place to get some spare gun parts but with thier anti-gun attitude along with them forcing Paypal (also anti-gun) on buyers and sellers alike I have altogether quit dealing with them. Bunch of left-wing-liberal-politically correct jerks. IMO

I've noticed some insane bidding on Ebay as well, but then again, I've also watched folks pay over retail (before premiums, taxes etc) at live auctions

some people just have to have a particular item, now!!!


as far as paypal, they do give you 3-4 options, including paypal, but do not want you to use Money order or check in your listing,

no rule, yet, saying you can't list 'other payments accepted' in your listing, and sending the buyer your address if they don' t like or use paypal,,

so far, it's worked for me

I was bidding on a No7 bayonet, went today to see how it was doing to find it had been 'pulled'. In my email inbox was a message from Ebay saying (basically) bayonets are now banned from ebay.

I've looked into the ebay policies and found (this has been copied and pasted - no changes)

eBay prohibits members from listing knives on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie with one exception:

Cutlery: this includes sets of kitchen cutlery (knives, forks, spoons) that contain knives used for eating, but does not include sharp kitchen knives such as those found in knife blocks, such as paring knives.

Now where do I find a No7 bayonet when US sellers wont ship across the pond

Alan, E-bay's stance on all things "martial" is growing daily. I'm certain baseball bats are on the short list at this moment! Also, we had better brace ourselves cause the school shooting in Germany is going to have grave consequences for law abiding gun owners on both sides of the Atlantic. European govts. are all ready too willing to go the confiscation route and the leftist elite over here will follow in lockstep. Enjoy your bayonet-less Enfield while you can!

Tried to bid for an item on E-bay only to have my bid rejected as I don't have a Paypal account attached to my E-bay account. I never will as I can't see letting a third party have access to a credit card account. Heard way too many horror stories about Paypal. (See Welcome to PayPalSucks.com, PayPal Lawsuit, PayPal Alternative, PayPal Complaints, Fraud & Evil behind the PayPal system!). So now E-bay's policy is, no Paypal, no bidding. Let both seller and E-bay know my bid was 50% higher than what the item closed at, (true), but neither cared. So that's it for me...E-bay and I are fini.

I don't think there are massive problems with paypal in my experience - although some people have clearly had issues. I started using it alone when the only three items I have ever sold which I allowed other payment methods eg cheque went wrong - ie they didn't pay. Writing a cheque, putting it in an envelope and posting it was clearly too much for some people.
It's ironic that ebay is picking on militaria like bayonets and doing absolutely nothing about the fraudulent sale of masses and masses of fake designer clothing. (also try and get customer service to help you - impossible as they're too busy persecuting legitimate sellers I should imagine.)

I used to lurk and buy things on ebay a lot. It was part of my daily routine to check listings for certain classes of items. Now I rarely go to the site, maybe once or twice a month, and when I do go it is to look for something specific. I just don't agree with their policies, so I try to use them as little as possible.

Here's a slightly mis-sold item unless I'm mistaken:

Enfield/No.4/No.'T'/L42 target swivel/king screw on eBay, also Field Gear, World War II 1939-1945, Militaria, Collectables (end time 22-Mar-09 16:13:54 GMT)

Looks like one of those 'long' trigger guard swivels, but certainly not an 'l42' or 't' one as we know they were the shorter ones.

Probably sell for a fair bit tho due to the incorrect t or l42 connections...
