Canvas Case ~ what is it?

I have had this for a long time & don't know what it really is.

It is a little over 52" long. It seems to be an arsenal rework, to lengthen, of some other model. The white sticker indicates a "previous" location where a strap (?) was attached. Small end is 11 1/2", large end is 26", & added section in the middle is 15". The large end has a zipper closure.

I have tried to post 3 photos here <> 1st time to try that.

First guess, as you probably have already, in it's original configuration is a for a M1 Carbine
I'd bet Bill Ricca would know for sure.

It WAS a M-1 carbine case that has had an extension sewn onto it so it will fit longer rifles and shotguns. Sold hundreds of them at the Army and Navy in Edmonchuck in the 50's
