    Found a '43 T at local gunshow

    Hello all,

I stumbled on this 1943(T) at a local gunshow two weeks ago. I was there buying reloading components, as some of the dealers wont charge tax on a cash deal. As I was about to leave, I spied this No4T on a dealers' rack. He wasn't asking very much, and I paid $550 for it. But being California, I had to do the background check and pay for a DROS, so that added $40 to the overall cost. Either way, I thought it was cheap. Seems like everyone was buying AR15's and bulk ammo, so the milsurps were being neglected.

Anyway, just picked it up today, and I spent the afternoon cleaning the cat hair, dust, and lint out of the it. Posted some pics, and as I've read on this forum, 1943 BSA's are marked very inconsistently. This one has the "s" stamp on the right side. I found a D6E mark under the barrel just forward of the index mark. The "T" is small, I think it's 1/16 inch.

The butt has been switched out, but it appears to be wearing its original forearm.

    Pics posted for critiques/comments/opinions.

Looks to be a real conversion. I would say 590 is a deal in todays market.

Can't argue for the price but looks like someone in the past has tried to remove the barrel due to the marks on the reinforce and body, then tried to hide there sins (bare metal areas around reinforce)

Very nice piece and a great find for the money to boot! I wonder if this was one of the rifles imported to the US by Interarms years ago? Any ENGLAND import markings?

MrClark303-Yes, "Englandicon" stamped between the M47 and ser #.

BigDuke- affirmative on the barrel/vise marks. Not sure what the intention was there. Looks like they used a pipe wrench! They also chewed up the front pad screws. Can never figure why someone would want to remove the pads... perhaps to see whats under?
