Long butt stocks on No4 rifles

Anyone know if there's an easy way to tell by looking at a No.4 picture whether it's a long butt. Sort of by scale? I.e. Top of butt stock by wrist to top of buttplate should be long than ( for example) trigger guard to middle foreshocks band.
I'm sick of having to email sellers to ask if there is an L N or S on the stock and having to describe it etc

Actually a quetsion on the longer buttstocks for Peter Laidler if hes out there. How were different length stockc different? Did they have a longer wrist only? Was the wrist longer AND the balance of the stock to the butt plate???

The stock should be marked at the heel with a single letter for length.

We've answered this long/short identity question recently so I won't go into it again. But the difference is the angle between the wrist and the butt.

Surely, if the rifle looks good anyway, just get it and change the butt to what you want/need. That's what we used to do every day of the week.
