"All my 7m Winchesters " Well it sounds like you have a few. Do you have one with an EW flip safety? I saw one sell on GB last year with a fake EW flip safety. Just checking.
Of course the butt plate is not correct. And it is a good try at a restoration. Not a bad deal if someone was wanting one. I have seen worse sell for more. My thoughts are the TH and stock are wrong. The rear sight is wrong. The slide and mag catch could be wrong. The refinish is wrong color and no blued parts.

I also would take that bet. I own 72550** M1 (no over stamp) June 22. 1945. "EW" Type 3 Safety.

I'd bet the 1 is over stamped by a 2. I own an Inland 7199xxx that's duly taxed and over stamped 2 with barrel dated 4/45.......
That would be apples and oranges. Carbine Club members who read CCNL 355, page 10 on WINCHESTER M2s would know better.
To make matters worse, Inland didn't do any overstamping of numbers on the markings at the front of the receiver.

Hey, Chris,
You had to post a picture of a beater. Looks like one out of a "Box". I think I have a three or four, maybe five, with an EW flip safety. I don't have all that many 7.2s, if you count them like eggs. The 7.2 I saw sell on GB had larger font EW letters and did not have any periods.
I remember many moons ago a CC NL told to watch out for fake EW flip safeties but that was the first one I had seen.

It is from a "box".
