    Buying and selling

This is just a little venting. A guy advertised in the classified section that he wanted to buy something that I had. OK, I sent him a message and I explained what I wanted (price wise) and that I could send photos if he was interested. I also explained why I was getting rid of it and what my main collecting interests were.

He asked for pictures and I sent pic's.

Then he coms back with; I have some things to trade. Would you be interested in trading? Or something to that effect.

No, I wouldn't be interested in trading. His post stated WTB. If he wanted to trade he should have listed his post as WTT.

Sorry for the rant but it really ticks me off when people aren't honest from the start. It didn't involve a lot of effort on my part to send the messages and the pictures but I was expecting a sale not a trade.

I'm sure that my experience is not the first or the only time this has happened. Maybe he is new to the internet or these types of transactions? Maybe he thought he could pawn off some extras from his stash in trade? Whatever the reason I do wish that people would correctly state their intent. It is not rocket science.

Generally that sort of activity is relegated to kijiji or craigslist, but on occasion it finds it's way outside that circle. It is usually just a matter of a polite "No Thank you" and insist on cash. At least you didn't list an item with legitimate value and have the first person honestly offer 10% of your already fair asking price.

That kind of bargaining reminds me of the bazaars of Afghanistan, take their asking price offer a fraction and begin to walk away, they will either chase you down and accept or you walk on to the next guy.

Refer to our on-line instructional thread about our classifieds system .

How do I use the classifieds system to buy and sell items? (click here)

Contained in there is a reference to our iTrader Feedback System(Click here)

If you simply want to leave public feedback about your experience with another member in regards to the way he handled a response to your classified ad, there's no requirement to reference a specific consummated sale. Just select the member's user name and leave your comments and rating.

    Hope that helps ..

    Regards,
    Doug
