What calibre is my Browning M1919?

I own a recently purchased, de-activated, Browning M1919 M.G. ex Venezuelan army and dated 1950 manufacture in Belgiumicon. It is in good used condition with full matching serial numbers but the only reference to it's calibre that I can find on it is 7.65mm stamped on the breech block. Does this mean that it is the original 30 cal which it was sold to me as or is it 7.62mm Nato or perhaps another less common calibre??? Thank-you for any information.

    7.65

Argentinaicon had M1919’s originally chambered in 7.65×53mm Argentine.

    They were converted to 7.62x51mm.

If converted to use 7,62x51mm, the feed mechanism would have been altered from the original caliber

Can you post some photos as I wasn't aware that FN made the 1919. They made their own derivative of the Browning machine gun (FN30) but it wasn't a 1919 as such.

Brit plumber, I'm sorry that currently I'm unable to post pictures of it but thank-you for your suggestion. I'll find some pictures of the F.N.30 and see how they compare; will report back. Is there any outwardly obvious differences between the F.N.30 and the M1919, please? Thanks for the info.

I've found some pictures on-line of the F.N.30 and it would appear that I don't own a M1919 but I do own a very nice F.N.30 M.G.. Is there much difference value-wise (U.K. De.activated), please, not that I'm overly bothered. Thanks for the info chaps.

The 1919A4 are going for about £1700 (with tripod) and upwards. Private sales are a little less. FN30s are better made and are relatively scarce but are less money as they're not as popular. Prices will be irrelevant in about a fortnight as no one will be able to sell their Deacs unless they pay to have them redeactivated to the new standard.

We may also see the end of UKicon deactivated guns too. I can see European deacs being much cheaper and as it is all EU driven then the public can legally buy abroad. They're will be a massive increase in imports from the continent and we are going to see the traditional UK dealers disappear.

I urge UK members to seriously consider leaving the EU at the Britex vote.

Thanks Brit Plumber for your help and info. At last weekend's Malvern Militaria event I spoke to a number of the dealers present to ask them if they knew exactly what was happening when the new E.U. de-ac. laws are due to kick in. None of them seemed to know what was happening and what they did say seemed to contradict each other which left me none the wiser.
