Hello everyone new to the site I been given this Rifle and I'm looking for some more info i do know 6000 were made in Toronto ON.

Looks like a sporterized 303 British #4 MKI

you would think but to my understanding this rifle was built brand new like this after the wwII

Nice looking EAL, someone should be along here who can tell you more about it. The EAL so far has eluded my grasp.

I missed one for $220 about 6 months ago, listed on an airgun forum of all places. I don't have my references on hand, but in the most basic terms they are a Essential Agencies Limited Factory built sporter/survival rifle built from sourced actions.

Compared to the typical home built cut down they are a nicely crafted rifle, most examples seem to move for $300-400 from what I have seen.

so for a med coffee for the coffee shop was a good buy for this girl? Rifling is still deep looks to have been barely fired spent three days cleaning the barrel, but there is minor pitting in the pipe from years of not being taken care of

Very good find, clean and great addition to your collection. Now you need to find a military model.

The E.A.L. Rifle is found in both civilian and military models. The civilian models are serial numbered in the range of 2000 to 5000, while the military models are numbered in the 6000 to 6999 range. The civilian models have 10-round magazines and military Mk II (two-position flip-type) rear sights (Figure 4), while the military models have 5-round magazines and an express-type rear sight with two folding blades. Also, the civilian models have ramp-type front sights with bead-type blades, while the military models have standard military front sights. Military models have been observed with holes drilled and tapped for Parker Hale scope mounts, and at least one military model exists mounted with a Tasco 4x scope. The wrists of the military model buttstocks bear military acceptance proofs.

I'm on the hunt for the military model now me father was a weapons tech in the RCAF he use to sign the rifles out and load them on the planes and lock them up for northern patrols but to this rifle i read that site it said serial numbers 2000 but mine is in the 200s thats what got me puzzled
