Which bayonet for an Arisaka 99?

I just picked up a Nagoya Arisaka 99 series 5 in the 46K serial number range that I think was made in mid 1943. Of course I now need a bayonet to got with it and I was hoping someone could help me with what bayonet would be appropriate for this rifle? I was looking at type 30's and found some websites describing the different characteristics of these bayonets but can not seem to narrow down a time period of the bayonet characteristics (the only description of production I can find is early, mid war and late or last ditch) to coincide with when my rifle was made. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Any Type 30 bayonet would be correct from earliest to last ditch. You can go with a mid-war pattern if you feel that is appropriate. If am not mistaken, they were not issued together from the manufacturer, they were issued on the unit level and any bayonet on hand at the time would be handed out to the soldier. Look for one in matching condition and you should be good to go.

I'd go with anything but a last ditch simply because I'd want to put something on it that would have been around at the time it was issued.

Made and issued are two completely different things, and it could be that your rifle was made and held in stores and issued late war, or issued as soon as it was made, there is no way of telling. Depending on where it was used (couyld be multiple places) it could have seen many different bayonets mounted on it or carried by the soldier using it at that time. I would not bother too much with what you stick on it, if the bayonet and rifle were not matched and serialed like the French ones then just stick anything on it it will be no further from potentially correct than any other.
