What have I got here: Paratrooper's Knife?
My father had this the entire time I was growing up and called it a paratrooper's knife and shroud saw. The main blade locks, the saw doesn't.

Does anyone know what it really is? The world's largest pocket knife?

My research says it is a WWII Pilots survival knife, US.
Manufactured by the usual knife suspects. Yours appears to be a less common manufacturer.
Used initially by the navy and later by the air force.

Yes...the saw certainly isn't for shrouds. They were nylon 550 cord and the blade would do a much easier job anyway. Those Paratroop switchblades are much smaller and button operated... Pilots survival...knife... Nice though, I'd love to have one. We don't see them here.

Thanks for your help, guys. I just got back from traveling to a funeral or I would have gotten back to you.

Bob,
Your post inspired me to find one for myself. Nice looking knife and I don't think I ever saw one before yours. Some also have a lanyard ring on them but it appears most do not so yours is correct. Saw blades were easily broken so good to have one that is not.

And... You guys inspired me so I posted a photo gallery of mine with a condensation of what I've learned in the description. Go HERE for more.

Early Presto switchblade
Later (1957) switchbaldes and raft knives
Told this was a Seal switchblade, opens heavy.
