That's when you found the crack, it was hidden under the dirt and old cosmolineicon. It wouldn't be the first time that has happened. - Bill

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Well I just contacted SOG, they said they won't be able to do anything. It has been 2 months since the item has shipped. That was my fault for leaving it wrapped up for so long. I will probably try to sell it and move on. Counting it as a painful lesson. I went ahead and ordered one from AIM. Hopefully 3rd time's the charm. I seem to be jinxed when it comes to these rifles.

I prefer to see the gun before I finalize the deal for that reason. I've had two that I purchased from photos and descriptions only that were not quite what was portrayed. I've also had one that was way better than portrayed so a lot of it depends on the seller.

Sorry to hear that but good luck with your next one. I agree with Aragorn on this point and I've never purchased a firearm sight unseen.
Condition is purely subjective short of the CMPicon ratings and what may be mint condition to me might be a piece of junk to you and vice versa.
Used cars and firearms are 2 things that none but my own appraisal is valid on if I'm looking to make a purchase. - Bill
