Sorry to hijack the thread, so I'll keep it short.

William Watson No 32 Mk 1, ser # 14273. 1943 manufacture, and still wearing the sliding rear shade.

Thanks Brian Re: 90L's. If I can swing some overtime, I might call that man with the T.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. As a wise man we all know and love once said: "they ain't making them anymore". You might want to grab it. The price doesn't seem out of line if you're realistic which i know you are.

14273 is known/recorded. It is within the run of Watson Mk1's and getting up to the Mk2 changeover point where the '1' had been milled out and a '2' over engraved. Thereafter the telescopes are made are Mk2's What is interesting is that there are a lot of Mk2/1's in the Mk2 Watson range and a few later L1A2/L42 combinations there too. Clearly these started their lives as Mk2/1's that found their way into the WORP programme and then into the system.

The last of the Watsons get clouded in with the last of the Kodaks

The second last bid in the auction.

If you shipped internationally it might be a little higher.

    Or not...holy sheepdip..$.5355...

The rifle owner must have been one of the bidders...I hope.

It was at @ $2900 to the end of the auction and then it jumped to $5355, I assume someone must have used one of the sniper programs...

The rifle and scope/bracket/tin will be reunited. I gather from the sellers ownership timelines they where separated somewhere in the late 60s/early 70s.

That is the best news, that this rare Canadianicon made scope and its rifle will be reunited.

So what's the scope number ncozzo?
