M93 7mm

How accurate are thes on average? I found a pretty good looking one of these that's been "tastefully" sporterised. (I realize that may be heresy to some, but it's appealing to me)

I hear some mixed things out there, is there any consensus?

I think the barrel has been shortend, assumming the crown is good, could i reasonably expect 2 moa?

Most of the M93's I have seen had bad bores. I recall years back Ye Olde Hunter sold Spanish M93's for $9.95 plus $3.00 shipping. I think most/all had bad bores. They are nice shooters with good barrels. Make sure you take a hard look down the bore.

Oops, it was actually a 95. I doubt the barrels changed much in quality. Thanks for the help!

Not speaking about your exact rifle, but the 7mm Mauser cartridge was at one time one of the most popular hunting, target and, of course, military cartridges in anyone's arsenal. In the 1930s through the 1960s, hunters and target shooters used it specifically for it's accuracy and it's ability to make clean kills on game. While it is not as easy to find over the counter hunting loads now as it once was (not to mention surplus military ammo), if your bore is good, you should be very happy with it at the target range and for hunting. Those who reload have always found it easy to work with and hopefully a wide range of bullets can still be found..

If your rifle has it's old military barrel , getting it to shoot well may be a problem . The older military 7mm rifles were made for long round nose bullets and had large groove sizes to keep down friction . Some modern ammo will not shot well in those . I have bought several M-95 rifles cheap because they were keyholeing with modern ammo . With hand loads they are good for close to 2 inch groups at 100 yards . A good bore measurement will let you know what direction to go with ammo.
