Pawn Shop find.

Found this at a local Pawn Shop about a month ago and forgot about it. Discovered it again while making my rounds Thursday. Went back Friday and worked up a trade with a KAHR CW.40 that I didn't need, for the rifle and 3 boxes of PPU ammo.
I don't think this thing has ever had a good cleaning. Grease/dust mixture on the metal. Hard grease on the bolt face. Gave the bore a good cleaning and it's sharp and bright. I'll strip it down later for a better cleaning.
It's not pretty, but it's in good shape and the numbers match on the bolt, receiver and mag.

rum runner: You may already know this but it's a BSA as indicated by the M47C visible on the left cheek. It's been through "Factory Thorough Repair" at some point, I guess at Fazakarley although there seems to be a Maltby mark on the bolt. From your description of the bore sounds like a good acquisition.

I take back the "not cleaned good" observation.
The gun has NEVER been cleaned.

Leave every trace of that grease on the rifle and never clean it off. It is put there by the UK icon

Military as another layer of protection from the worldly elements. It is also a good barrier between the steel and the wood.

Yep I love that greased look under the wood. Means you can leave it as is and never have to strip down apart from basic post shooting cleaning.

Great find! I'm kinda odd but I love the old gun sights. It's a growing collection.
