    Swiss 96/11 range report

Last week I got to the range for a few hours and shot a number of rifles, including this Swissicon 96/11...

The bore on this rifle is simply amazing...

My handloads (IMR 4064 and 168gr Hornady Amax's and Nosler CC's) at 100 yards. I ran out of the Amax's and had to use some Noslers...may have had an affect on the group size.

I have not yet had a chance to shoot mine. How would you compare it to the 1911? Any difference in shooting or accuracy?

I have shot my 1911 and K11 and they were a blast to shoot. Might like the K11 better than my K31icon.

The 1911 and the 96/11 are functionally identical. No difference in shooting or handling. No difference in accuracy that I've detected.

I personally prefer the 1911 to the 96/11, just due to the flat buttplate on the 1911 being much more comfortable for me to use. I find the curved buttplate on the 96/11 hurts a bit more when shooting.

Easy to handload the round. No throat issue with the 96/11 rifle.

I sure found out that Sierra was using /11 data for their load COALs!

I am used to locating the lands so no issue, but had to move the bullet back a lot further in the K31icon than I thought. Still longer than some list it (175 Sierra MK) number 2275.

I got 4 shots in under an inch and a flyer at 1.5 inches. Figured that was really good for first load check. Still creeping up and max of 48.5 of R17 under it.

I think set COAL and still off the lands .020 is 3.010 or very close. Fits in the magazine/clip fine and could go a bit longer though probably not going to.

I didn't think I would find an older gun I liked shooting as much as the 1917 but the K31 sure is it.
