    Below is the Aluminum buttstock, followed by a non-textured CAR Fiberlite buttstock, and then the textured CF Green ... that being said you can feel the weight difference.

    The original aluminum butts had a matt finish that was smoooooth...but not really shiny, sort of semi gloss. The butt plate looked a bit smaller than it should have been. They aren't anything like what's available today.

    Here's a addition to the thread, Brand New Condition C8 cleaning kit, these were scarce for awhile and when the C7A2 collapsible butt was installed we had no place for our cleaning kits. About a year later these were issued en masse to every solder and became very common.
