5th SS Panzer, aptly named 'Wiking' & made up of Nordic, Baltic state & Dutch volunteers. 28th was I think largely made up of Belgian Walloons under the command of the (in)famous Leon Degrelle.

Those Valloons again.
Reminds me of all the North Americans who spell and often pronounce their family names, such as say "Kowlowsky", not realizing that the correct pronunciation was actually, "Kovlovsky" and that they are simply the victims of the German shipping line their ancestors sailed on or the immigration agent who used the German transliteration when they arrived.
I suppose just a reflection on our level of literacy 'ovah heah'.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
Edward Bernays, 1928
Much changes, much remains the same.

Like N Z's Whakatane where the "Wh" is said as an "F" and the "ne" as "n-ay" or Tepuke not like I said it as Too-puke but Tee-puuk-ee had a quick lesson whilst touring there from my wife who is from En.Zed, in Aus we are some what worse for pronunciation of place names! On track again I hope that with some effort it comes to light a bit of this scopes adventures so at least there can be a closure of a sorts to discover where one T Rifle/scpope ended up.
