I thank M1nut for posting these questions and starting this thread. Many have asked a question here and there but his post explores it completely.
I too am not totally enamored with the situation we find ourselves in. But, WE HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT, it's the hand that has been dealt to us. The old site could not go on as it was, too many spam attacks, totally antiquated software.
I also notice that he only had 11 posts at this writing. The more I read and post, the easier it gets for me. I can now jump right up to the "Jouster" mini menu near the top and go right to where I want.
Much of what dictates how your screen reacts to where you have been, is predicated on how you move about. At the old site, if you used your "Back" button the screen still indicated, by boldness, where you had been. Here, you have to use the Mini Menu, it's not so cookie retentative.
When you have read a few dozen more posts and posted 10-20 more, you will be able to move around better. You just might find yourself flying all around the site.
Plus, we don't have to put up with those annoying "Wizzing" contests here.

That's a very good point ..
The "back" key on any browser takes you back to a point in history, prior to reading the post you're in, so of course, it will show the thread as still being BOLD (or unread), because that was the way it was before the reader opened it. I usually hit my "refresh" key on my browser after using "back", which shows the current state of read and unread for me accurately.
Thanks for pointing that out....
BYW, just read some interesting stuff in a tech journal. Apple's new Safari browser (also available for Microsoft Windows based PC's) is 30 times faster than Microsoft's IE (Internet Explorer) and 3 times faster than Firefox, when executing Java based code used by many web sites (including this one).
It perhaps explains why Y find this site so much faster when I use Safari on my MacBook Pro versus IE7 on my PC, from the same physical location.
Anyway, trivia, but helpful to understanding technology, which I've always found fascinating.
Regards,
Badger

You don't need to change browsers.
If you want to have the fonts and colors you specify in Internet Explorer to be used for all websites, regardless of the fonts that have been set by the website designer, follow these steps:
Open Internet Explorer
Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
Click the General tab, and then click Accessibility.- Select the Ignore colors specified on webpages, Ignore font styles specified on webpages, and Ignore font sizes specified on webpages check boxes, and then click OK twice.

Many Thanks
Thank you Badger for your invaluable help for CSP. I appreciate what you are doing, and I'm certain Dick and Gloria do too.

If that will get rid of this depressing Grey, I might try it. I remember how friendly CSP was to the eyes. I hardly ever looked at other gun pages because they were all, well, too much like this one; to business like.
But, were here, because we're here, because we're here. Gotta have some Garand in my diet. Thanks Milsurps.
Aww crap! what was I supposed to do to make the print bigger???

Live today and appreciate what we have.
I loved Jouster too, but I appreciate Milsurps and the advantages they offer on this site. It's just differant. I just hope all of the Jouster whiners don't end up spoiling it for everyone and we end up with nothing.

I'm with Brad in Idaho and Dryheat
Yesterday I was thinking about how much I missed Jouster.
To me it was like a comfortable and safe living room or den with your favorite chair to sit in. By way of contrast, this place feels like I expect a cold, dark, and wet tomb to feel like.
Metaphors? Yes, of course ! But that is the difference in user friendliness that I personally feel. And thus that is why I miss our old friendly home so much.

Don't let it get you down.
Many of the forums I've frequented have been changing.
People get old and tired of the same old, and the Culver's were probably ready to move on.
I am glad the forums are still here and we are all in the same boat for learning a new format, so you are not alone.
All the same community will eventually come here, and you will meet some new people in the process.
One day at a time.
